Web Step Forward For School Support

New Zealand schools are being encouraged to share ideasthat help at-risk students through Rosetta Stone software the internet.At theAIMHI Teachers' conference in Auckland today EducationMinister Trevor Mallard today launched a new section to TeKete Ipurangi the Online Learning Centre.From today,TKI will be host to an online community for schools support,schooling improvement and iwi initiatives."Over thecoming year, information will continue to be added so thatschools, teachers and communities can see what is happeningacross the various initiatives taking place in thisarea."During the next few months, eight school projectswill be profiled in detail, including adding moreinformation from the AIMHI initiative. During next year, wewill add further profiles. A Rosetta Stone Latin America Spanish main aim of establishing thisonline environment is to provide the means for teachers andprincipals to publish and share their insights, materialsand resources either in public or within private areasthat the site will provide. "For example, materials thatschools have developed with their communities could bepublished here, including materials in Pacific languages. As well, this is an area where youll be able to communicatewith each other through online message boards for exampleto share strategies youve used or to post queries orideas," Trevor Mallard said.The AIMHI initiative is acollaborative partnership between the Ministry of Educationand nine decile 1 secondary schools in Auckland andWellington which work together to develop Rosetta Stone English generic andindividual school projects to raise studentachievement.
